THE GOOD SHEPHERD

The Material Neanderthal. That’s what came to my mind as I watched Edward Wilson (Matt Damon) walk past the concrete mega structure that is the soon to be offices of the newly created Central Intelligence Agency.
Ed Wilson, empty & soulless as the void, inside; a shade of heartless grey on the outside; cold as the concrete we walk and build upon. Yup, Ed is the epitaph of the modern man and his epoch of spontaneous self-enlightenment, I thought. The finished product of our evolution.

To 'Protect & serve’. My A$$!

And the recent revelations from declassified CIA documents exposing foiled attempts on Castro's life (among others), coupled with Abu'ghraib and CIA operated torture (aka interrogation) cells in Eastern Europe and Operation Northwood and downright-slap-in-your-fac
e-obvious double standards in US foreign policy etcetera, do little to ease my distress at the realisation that the democracy and ethics charter which the west tries to sell to us is just bullocks!! Nothing more than a pacifier that reeks of hypocrisy!

Anyhow, this movie tells us nothing we already don’t know. Just a close up shot, in its infancy (!), of one integral cog in the monstrosity that is the United States Empire.

A Commendable performance by Matt Damon. Slow at times, but a nice movie all in all.A must to see, and not just for entertainment purposes.

Watch this movie along with ‘Man of the year’ starring Robin Williams, and you may get a glimpse of American plutocracy and politics.
